Various support options exist for those living with Parkinson’s disease and the family members who are involved in the care process. Asking for help along the way creates a sense of guilt, especially for those who are caring for a loved one for the first time. However, bringing in the added help will only allow you and your loved one to live a greater quality of life. The right support can go a very long way.

Caregiver Support
This consists of support for those are caring for those living with Parkinson’s disease. This can be for the family caregiver or the private caregiver.
Private duty care agencies provide caregivers for extended periods throughout the day. Caregivers are often provided with minimum four hours shifts. Some families may choose to have little supplemental care, while others choose to have around the clock care. Private duty care is provided via private pay.
Home health care consists of occupational therapy, physical therapy and occupational therapy. A referral will be needed prior to beginning a particular service with a home health care agency. Home health care is provided via Medicare.
Exercise is said to be one of the most important treatment options for those living with Parkinson’s. Exercise helps to prevent rigidity while also maintaining physical functioning.
